I'm escaping our rubbish sumer and heading to france for a week with friends for a week of good biking!
Looking for wisdom from those who have done it before on what foods should i take with me (driving there from Scotland) and what i should pick up there based on advice i got about a big price gap between there and here.
Any tasty recipies that are cheap and tasty would also be awesome.
Cheers

Doing exactly the same thing, ferry on the 24th, return on the 30th.
A ferry to Dunkirk is cheaper than calais so I've found.
And - you're going to FRANCE... why do you need to take food??? Live off pain au chocolat.0 -

Having spent about 6 hours in Scotland on Monday last week and managing to get 2 hours spare to go around the Glentress red (no time for more) and having driven around a bit, I can't understand why you'd want to leave the country.
Great biking trails, spectacular scenery, no language probs. Can't see a prob with rain either for that matter:D

I am away out for 4 and half weeks and have spent a good few summers out there. I would just eat and buy out there. Not that much difference in price and it's great to have soem change in terms of food and routes!!0

34 Deg C way way too hot, 15 just nice. Er, why not peddle up hills, confused. Thought that was the other half of the fun.

france is brilliant, where abouts are you going? alps im assuming? alp du hez? chamonix mont blanc, i couldnt agree more with the flapjack suggestion, i swore by them, another thing, is make sure your hydrated (not just with water) its very hot down south, even when it rains
Enjoy it!0 -

You know what's good? Variety. I live 40 minutes from Glentress and Innerleithen and they're brilliant, maybe I should never ride anywhere else ever again?
Nah on second thoughts, bollocks.Uncompromising extremist0 -

Hmm, what a pleasant individual you are. Do you make a point of insulting people. I was only saying how nice I thought Scotland was and that I also dislike hot weather, and that I don't mind cycling up hills. And I get insults.
Cheers to you too.
