It's Italian, it's beautiful and it can be had for a good price.

Anyone got any opinions on this bike, can't find any decent reviews online.

Thanks

If you buy me one, then I'll be good enough to review it for ya! I can't say fairer than that!

Hmmmmmm, let me think about that one

Am I right in saying they're not offered in the uk with campagnolo components? I think uit's be wrong having shimano on it, a bit like buying a yellow Ferrari! Also I'm not a fan of the bendy forks, but that's just personal taste.

If you're not willing to buy me one to give you a review you should just buy it, preferably in a 55cm size and then if you don' like it you can sell me it for peanuts! :D

Yeah the wavy forks . . . . . dunno if I like that but I'm sure I could grow to like.

I can get one with Veloce but I might go shimano . . . . hmmmmm, what to do

It's either the FP2, a Ribble or a cheap chinese frame. Can't ride any and I don't have a LBS

I'd go for the ribble / chinese frame ahead of the fp2. Overpriced and too heavy in my opinion.

    BUMP

The 2010 FP2 can be had for £1400 and there seems to be quite a few of them around. Am I missing something? Why have the retailers been left with these?

Nooooooooooooo! If you get teh FP2 you are forbidden from having Shimano on it! To be fair I have very limited experience of wither I have one bike that has RSX on it, it's that old and one with Campag Xenon. I prefer the Campag for riding on the hoods and the RSX (When it's working) for in the drops so it's swings and roundabouts really.

I saw one at a good price on ebay - It doesn't seem to have very many reviews and has some proprietary componentry (most) that had mixed reviews when I looked. I'm not ready to buy something anyway so was sort of glad that it wasn't such a good deal as it first appeared.

I suppose like everything - you need to look beyond the name on the frame!

I think that deep down you know the answer to that.

    Supply and demand . . .

Either they made too many of them . . .

    OR

They were ridiculously overpriced at £2k and they wrongly thought people would lap them up with the Sky connection.

I wouldn't even buy one for £1400 truth be told. Frames OK but components and wheels aren't.

    Get a canyon.

I suspect these are licensed by Pinarello and mass produced in China, like the many other low to mid budget carbon bikes.

The price tag is crazy for what they are and there are some much better bikes to be had for the budget... all be it none with Pinarello stickers on them.

All the Pinarello bikes below the Prince are made in the far east as far as I know.

What other bikes can be had for £1400 with decent wheels?

MOst components I think are just re-branded FSA stuff, correct?

The 2011 price is ridiculous at over £2K!

I could build a ribble stealth/de rosa style with 50mm carbonzone clinchers for circa £1200

But . . . will I get fed up of explaining to people where I got it from and can you fall in love with a generic black bike?

If you're more concerned with what people think or what your bike looks like than having something good value to ride on then be my guest - it's your money after all ! Don't get me wrong, I like the look of Pinarellos . . .

However, for £1400 you can get this:

    http://www.canyon.com/_uk/roadbikes/bike.html?b=2108

and for £1600 you can get this, which is incredible value.

    http://www.canyon.com/_uk/roadbikes/bike.html?b=2110

    or also for £1400 - but doesn't look the best . . .

I did hear a rumour that Sky wont be on Pinarellos next year. I wonder if they'll come down further ?

I suppose I'm struggling to find a bike within budget that actually gets me excited. I like the Bianchi Sempre but it's definitely over budget. Canyon and Verenti are not for me. I want something that's a little different and you don't see all over the place on your Sunday ride. Oh and I've got an aluminium bike so looking for carbon this time.

Therein lies your problem! Budget not big enough for what you want . . . I would either revise my budget or revise my wants. ..

Bianchi Sempre IS nice though !

Ah but why is the Sempre more desirable than the Pinarello? Same spec pretty much, both Italian badges but made in the far east . . . . . Is the Sempre any better that the carbonzone/ribble stealth which can be had for say £1150 with similar spec

I've got a big birthday coming up next year so could wait until then and have a real excuse to go over budget. Is an Italian name really worth the extra £700 ish quid?

This all hurts my head a bit

I can sympathise with your plight Pete. As someone who cycles for pleasure I have a need to like the bike I am riding. Whilst I appreciate it is far from everybody's taste I love the look of my Claud Butler and I like the fact that it is British as well. I wonder with the money you have available you could buy a frame and components and build it yourself? I don't know your mechanic skills but that way you would have something unique to your taste and to your requirements spec wise?

This is why the direct Chinese frames are so tempting. If pretty much all carbon bikes under the 3K mark are just re-branded chinese frames then why pay the extra?

£1200 for the stealth de rosa dripping in carbon bling I think is probably the way to go!

    Erm . . . .

    Within budget :(

Wasn't actually sure what your budget was - certainly you can get a nice Viner at a surprisingly cheap price and they are certainly rare. I thought you could get a 566 for about 2k but it's actually more like 2.4k.

Still, if it helps I was originally after a Bianchi C2C and my budget eventually expanded to cover a Look 585
