It's finally happening! Four lads and a lass, and potentially and another three in a van for a proper riding holiday in the Alps, no mestins!
Can anyone recommend a decent and cheap place to stay, that might also have storage for bikes (could be kept locked int he trailer) and possibly has a hose? Also, any general advice about trails, maps and what ever would be greatly appreciated 8)

can't help you on trails etc as I was over there a couple of weeks ago on the road but we stayed at a chalet called the edge. Google The Edge Morzine. Run by a lovely woman named Lindsay.storage for bikes etc and she helped with sorting out transfers etc with skiidy gonzalez from Geneva airport.0

Cheap? Morzine?
Good luck!
FWIW, I camped in some place called Camping La Ferme, or somesuch, in Les Gets.0 -

Found it, dropped an email over.
Yeehaa - Is Les Gets a cheaper base than Morzine then? So long as we are in that sort of area it doesn't really matter. The misses is being dropped off in Geneva so we have to go through the city first.
I'll look up Camping Le Ferne too0 -
Les Gets seems generally a little cheaper - but it's not as built up as Morzine. They're all part of the same "resort" though.0

You've reminded me that my parents have one of those mansion tents... once that's up it's like a chalet... That might be a better idea.0

Just be warned that the rain in that area can be absolutely biblical if/when it comes down. Camping is great fun, but there was one night when four of us were literally scared for our lives in a storm - and I hadn't experienced that feeling since I was a toddler
Good fun though in hindsight!0 -
Epic! So I might still get a jaccuzi even though I'm not renting a chalet?? all be it a cold one...0

There's great showers at the campsite. As far as i know, it's the only one in Les Gets, even if I did get the name wrong. there's also a jetwash for cleaning bikes - and a baker comes by every morning with fresh bread, croissants, pain du chocolat etc.0

I stayed at flowmtb in Morzine last year and it was awesome. Great value, €300 for the week inc food (and the food and cakes are amazing, restaurant quality thanks to Jess). Centrally located, bike wash, the guys know all the best trails, entertainment room, cheap beers...sold yet?0

I've had an offer from a company for 243E pp for our 6 days, so I'll put that to the group and see if we want to go for sheltered, or sleeping under the stars option.0

Well check out flow as well mate, we checked out heaps last year and for what you get I think it's unbeatable.0

Check these guys out http://www.epicmorzine.com/

We're going with Epic Morzine in August. Founbd cheaper chalets but they were owned by French people (communication problems) and the site looked a bit shady, plus they were 2k's away from the lifts. Epic was only a little bit more, owned by English people and is in the centre of town! (so I'm told!) It was £500 for us for the apartment, with 5 of us in there. £100 each for a week in the Alps? Bargains ahoy!Trek Remedy 7 2009
