    Full bike imo.
To get an idea put the seperate parts into search and then look at completed listings for a guide as to what they can fetch.

I have to admit, I will probably sell it in bits, as I want the SLX shifters, XT rear mech and Avid Elixir 5's for my other bike.
Should still clear around £350 for frame forks and everthing else.

I did not think of it as a valuation thread.

As a whole imho. dont forget, although things like drive train etc can be sold seperately, you wont get much for things like that as theyre used. The main things youd be selling is the frame, forks and brakes and wheels. the forks youd struggle to get much more than £100 for, brakes probably the same. maybe £300 for the frame. Then other than wheels youd be scratching around with £20 here and £30 here and there for things like the stem, bar and saddle

Also think of the listing fees and Paypal fees on selling loads of seperate items and the pain in the arse of listing and relisting and all the "I live in outer mongolia and would like to buy xxxxx Can you post" or the " I know youve advertised it for £100 would would you take £20 and my hamster" The stupid emails are bearable for one item but think of how many youd get with 10 items for sale!!

sell the bike as a whole and advertise it as cash on collection, and then you can keep all of the money

I'd tend to agree with Dan. Ideally you'd get maximum return selling in pieces, but it rarely ends up like that. Selling in parts tends to be more useful when it's more of a 'boutique' build, and your idea of a dream spec. is not the same as other people's. With more average parts you'll probably end up still trying to flog the last few bits a year from now, if you're unlucky.

Scott Scales make excellent privateer racers (and decent trail bikes too), so I'd expect there to be a fair amount of interest in the whole bike.

Hi, thanks for the last two replys.
I have sold a set of Reba SL 6 weeks ago from 2009 used and got £150 for them.
However I will sell it as a whole due to the facts as stated. So will be stripping it and cleaning it today and tomorrow, although it has only done 300 dry road miles at present.
The worse thing is how painful it is to sell it but the Domestic Boss at home (the wife) says I have too many bikes!

Don't forget the swap the shifters, mech & brakes first. Then you can highlight the "new" bits on the listing. ;)

Selling as full bike is almost always easier, unless you have some seriously good kit, in perfect condition, and it's at the right time of year when people are upgrading. Your in the middle of riding season right now, so not many people will be looking for just a few small parts. They would be looking for a full bike now, but if you hold out you could have a better chance of selling in parts in the fall, once people start prepping bikes for winter, and upgrades come around a bit more then.

Even then, you may plan on making enough money back, but not everything is guaranteed to sell, and if they do, it may be at a lower price than what you expected/wanted.
