As per the title really
Currently riding with padded undershorts which I'm finding way too hot and sweaty, especially around the padded area. I don't spend hours and hours in the saddle in one go and my botty is pretty used to riding so I don't actually need the padding but if If I just wear normal Calvin boxers these hold the sweat and become horridly unpleasant.
Any thoughts for a looser fitting, non-cotton, non-sweaty boxer with no (or very minimal) padding? I'm kinda thinking of a pair of Calvins made of coolmax with no seams in the wrong places...

I don't wear boxers under padded shorts.
I'm looking for boxers to replace padded shorts.
I'm finding padded shorts (with nothing underneath) too hot at this time of year, especially in the padded area.
I'm finding cotton boxers (under baggies and with no padded shorts) get horribly damp and hold the sweat.0 -

Used to cycling or not, you will notice the seat on your backside without a pad. Tried and tested myself.
But if you want to give it a go ..

I can't stand wearing padded undershorts, tried several different types. I've no problem wearing unpadded boxers all day on the bike. Try Nike 'pro combat', about £15 from sportdirect I think. In winter I wear Nike 'dryfit' full length leggings, think they make a short version too.0

I dont always bother with padded shorts. If you find a saddle that fits your 'aris you dont always need the padding. My advice is either put up with betty swallocks or try going commando...Later option might involve strategic insect repelant useage :?0

Try some merino wool boxers like these:

Once your nads have experienced hangin around in these they'll never want to go back to cotton0 -
Bought a couple of pairs of lowe alpine boxers a few years back. Just the job!

Ill second the nike pro combat undershorts - I wear them for practically all forms of exercise (including short rides if not wearing my padded shorts) and find them brilliant.
Most importantly they hold everything in place!!0 -
Cheers chaps - Sportsdirect just down the road so will try a pair of those Nike jobbies first0

Just be careful, padding isn't just for comfort.
Mate of mine had to give up riding or give up on the idea of ever having children, he didn't like padded shorts either...XC: Giant Anthem X

Just get a pack of the M&S loose fitting boxers (soft cotton ones, not the hard ones or you'll get chafed  ). Works for me."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

I'm no doctor, but I very much doubt that a couple of mm of foam would make the difference between sterility or not. I suspect there were other issues here.Stevo 666 wrote:Just get a pack of the M&S loose fitting boxers (soft cotton ones, not the hard ones or you'll get chafed  ). Works for me.0 -

TBH I'm not too much of a sweaty git so it's not much of a problem for me.

I don't think sterile is the right word, it was more impotent I believe. Anyway, not to worry, he gave up mtb'ing and has a couple of kids now.XC: Giant Anthem X

Without going into too much detail, shape of the saddle, body position, time in the saddle all have much more bearing on impotence than padded shorts. And any link between cycling and impotence is widely disputed. The padding in the shorts is there for a different reason than to prevent impotence.0 -
