Resting Heart Rate

At the risk of sounding a bit dull, but how relaxed should you be when calculating your resting heart rate?

I only ask as when I'm standing up and not moving my heart rate is about 63 bpm
When I'm sitting down and relaxing it's about 49bpm
And if I lay down on the bed or settee for a few minutes it's around 37bpm

Which is the correct measure?

If you Google "resting heart rate" you will get over 2 million hits mostly about how to get a resting heart rate.

Read this and was prompted to test mine...

Despite being 16.5 stone, (6 foot 4 though..) mine is 60bpm! Very happy =)

Was way about this a few years ago at a similar weight!!

    On the non-nookie night
  • the best way i have found is to measure your heart rate every morning as soon as you wake up every day for a week....add the numbers together then divide the total by 7
