    Sub 5:30 on ride c- the 107

    Did not go to Plan....

1 puncture, a missed turn resulting in an extra 2 mles and no big chain ring for the last hour and a half.

    Managed 5.44 for 107 ( 109 ) miles.

Longest ride i've attempted (107) on a silver Claude Butler hybrid, 8hrs 31, went over the handlebars with 2 miles to go when a car cut me up on the Callerton roundabout, thanks to the riders who asked if i was ok and the the ones on route who gave me support.
Great day though...in a perverse sort of way

Did the 107 miler in a truly shocking 9h16 (ride time was nearer 7h30). Stayed with my mate the whole way, had a good run up some of the hills when I blasted away and waited at the top and sprinted the last two miles to use up spare energy!

Far too long a day out but glad I helped my mate to finish as he was nowhere near normal fitness - I never beat him up long climbs but was about 3 minutes quicker up the first biggy (Bellingham??).

Was pretty amazed at the amount of people pushing up hills on the 107, could be because I was near the end of the field but it seemed most hills had someone pushing up. Not knocking anyone but would have thought if anyone is fit enough to do 100+ miles those hills (at least until the Ryals) should have been rideable.

Passed a lot of people looking pretty knackered around the 60 mile mark too so hope they got on ok.

Awesome w/end: crits on fri were ace, road race sunday was also ace - the chance to meet wiggins, G, cav, etc... in the flesh was awesome and to see how the ryals should be ridden was inspiring!!!

Well, the cyclone on the sat was awesome, despite x2 P's (one before the start and one at 10miles). It was my first sportive so did ride b, and have truly got the sportive bug now!!! (aiming for ride c next year!!) Did the ride with my bro and a mate (who sailed up the ryals!!!  ). So proud of my bro (lives in a flat part of the country and max total ride was 30miles before this) but he managed it and even got most of the way up the ryals w/out stopping!

I also enjoyed all of the bike porn that was on display!!

Overall, a cracking w/end, so thanks to all!!

Did an appalling 5hr+ ride for the 67, involving a P- and getting lost on the way to start (big thank you to the family who showed me the way across the motorway). I had a couple of fairly lengthy stops, but even so I was slow as a slow thing, down to having done no 50+ mile rides since I think 2010. Anyway, weekend was good overall seeing the crit and the pro-races on Sunday. Shall be back next year a little better prepared.

Sadly ~ 25mins slower than last year on the 107 mile route! I can't even blame the extra miles as I got to the first checkpoint in exactly the same time as last year. Curiously did the final leg to within 30 seconds of last years effort too.

I really enjoyed the climb up Troughend Common where I mysteriously got into a groove and actually passed numerous people, which is fairly uncommon for me.

A very good day and well organised for such big numbers. I like being able to buy proper food at checkpoints so appreciated the move of the second feedstop from on top of Bilsmoor to the Elsdon village hall.

aye but the feed station had been moved about 3 miles forward and was before Ritton Bank, so the same time was really slower, if you know what I mean

can't believe anyone actually enjoyed Troughend Common

It's really nice up there! Especially as the sun had started to come out. I was aiming for Gold but missed it by 2 minutes. Only about 9 people got it so it was obviously a tough one to get.

    Leesykoi, did you make it?
Ride C 7h50 (ride time 7h24, need to find a way to cut down on the breaks), happy enough with that. Specially after the evil that was the bit over the moors into a strong headwind (Troughend Common?). That nearly did for me. Weather was great for the rest of the ride though and good to be amongst friendly folk.
Feed stations were a lot better this year too.

    Hi Ad Hynkel,

Quite possibly the worst day i've had on the bike ever !!!

Started well even though it was tipping it down with rain but was with the L2P lads and the banter was good. Had two P+'s before the first feed station but my leg was holding up ok. A guy i was riding with noticed i was using deep section rims and recommended i split down to the blue route as i was going to be real stuck up on the top with no other tubes on me if the fairy made another appearance.

On about the 30mile mark a completely wally who had his head down and was pedalling like fury rode right into the back of me at about 25mph knocking me flying. Result was concussion, hairline fracture of ankle, dented Rudy Project helmet and a buggered Garmin 705. Had to stop every 5miles on the way back to throw up.

Great day on the Sunday though and hats off to Peter and the organisers for the logistics of the event!!!

    Lee.

I did the 108 at a leisurely 8:20 overall with 7:40 riding time - good training from my LEJOG in August :-)
I didn't find the Ryals too testing it was the climb out of Otterburn into THAT headwind that did most people in and there was nothing for it but to grind it out :-(

I bumped into a cyclist from Whitley Bay that did Lejog last year and am trying to get in touch with him as he has loads of info for my impending attempt.
I know he's 52 and his ride number was 3749 - if anyone knows him please ask him to get i touch

Well done to everyone who completed whichever length and even if you didn't there's always next year :-)

on reflection, not displeased with my time, 12 mins faster than last year with the extra miles but just another 0.5mph avg and I would have been in under 4 hrs.
