Tubes in aero carbon wheels (also posted in workshop)

Hi,
At 10pm last night I had a puncture 5km from home - luckily my wife did the taxi-driver act and picked me up.
Turns out a tiny bit of flint went through the tyre and into the tube. I've not changed a carbon aero inner tube before, so I'm looking for a bit of advice re:
1. Can I patch or is it best to replace the tube?
2. Any tips getting the tyre on and off the rim - do I need to be more careful than I would with an aluminium rim?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

just to be clear.....this is a clincher rim?
If so, and the hole isn't too bad then there's nothing wrong with repairing the tube. Make sure you run your fingers on the inside of the tyre though when it's off to make sure there's no more sharps inside it.
With regards to getting the tyre off, i've never had rims without at least an alu breaking surface so can't help there, but i would imagine it'd be the same!0 -
Hi Olly,
Yes, it's a clincher. I've not got the tyre off yet but judging by the size of the flint the hole will be small, so I'll try to patch it. I will remember to check for more sharp bits.
Thanks,

I've made the mistake once in the past while out on the road to change an inner tube and not check for sharps embedded on the inside on the tyre.....2 miles down the road and another flat....
Que me phoning the mrs to come and pick me up0
