Lake Speedplay specific shoes?

Are these definitely worth having over the conventional 3 hole version and adapters? I notice that the sole has quite a larger flat area compared to the 3 hole shoe. I use Speedplay pedals and have no plans to change.

    i will be changing to lake 4 hole once my current sidis need replacing.

    Just remember to get the alu plate if your using carbon soles to protect them :)

    The 3 to 4 hole adapator is the only part of the system i have problems with, coming undone, slipping etc....

    Is the alu plate a Speedplay product? I might be using a LeMond wedge, I guess that will do the same job.
