Rear suspension using pull instead of push

I was wondering if anyone had ever designed a bike that used pull forces on a shock rather then push? E.g. stretching a spring rather than compressing it?

yes many.
GT did a few."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Didn't GT, Yeti and Schwinn all do one that was basically the same? I seem to remember the Schwinn was called a Straight 6, and the Yeti was a Lawwill. I'm guessing the GT was a Lobo something-or-other. I remember riding one of those old GTs (carbon version) around the carpark at GT back in the day; it seemed to be the absolute pinnacle of bike technology back then. I was still on a fully rigid Kona.0

Never looked like they'd work. Just like all K2s really!0 -

The straight 8 and it's derivative, the straight 6 both used a normal push shock, but the mount was a trunion so it looks a little different.
I'm sure I read on BR recently about a new bike coming out with a pull shock, and travel limiter switch - so it sounded exactly like a Genius...0 -
New cannondale jekyl....
It's basically a copy of the Genius.
Both use pull shocks.
Both are very, very good.I like bikes and stuff0 -
Oh right there you go then I guess I've just not been looking closely enough at the bikes.0

GT lobo wasn't all that long ago, in the grand scheme of things. I was already riding my old Wolfridge when it was released.0

Yeah, those are the ones I was thinking of. It was the 'looking different' that threw me: like the K2 above, but not.0
