Went out yesterday for a few hours. 70 miles, loads of that were into a headwind. It was surprising how few roadies were out too, normally in the vale of york it's chocca on a Sunday. Made me think we're all getting fed up of it.

I seem to be constantly fitting in rides between the forecasts of rain etc. When I do it just seems to be windy yet again.
Don't get me wrong, Like most of us, I use the wind mentally as resistance training and more strong miles in the bank and don't mind riding in it during the week.
seems to have been like it for a couple of months now.

Can't we have one decent weekend long ride in comfort?

Maybe I just need to MTFU!

Next weekend should see fairly light winds. A long way ahead yet but signs are promising.

Doesn't feel like we've had a proper summer yet.

Just wait until Global Warming kicks in, all those long, hot, dry summers & mild, wet winters!

250W is 250W, regardless of the effect the head/tailwind has on your speed.

    MAN UP.

I also suffered with wind at the weekend. It was so bad it made my eyes sting.

On the bright side once I got out of the house and on my bike I didn't notice it so much, average speed seemed to be ever so slightly higher than usual with the added gas powered propulsion and that was just on the Biryani. Moving up to the Madras on Friday in the hope that I set a personal best on Saturday

Note to self; must remember to wear brown shorts for Saturdays ride!

I wouldn't worry. After today the nights will be drawing in and we'll all have winter to look forward to.

Today I did a 31 mile ride, no wind at all, even the wind turbines were still which is a very rare thing,so I was expecting to do my best time on this loop but I ended up going slower than the last time I did this same loop with a 10-15 mph wind,I was trying quite hard but really missed having a tailwind on the inrun this time round, so for me wind is good unless it gets up to something stupid like 30-40 mph.

What wind? Calm this morning, for once.

Exactly. You wouldn't find any Dutch or Belgians complaining about the wind. They just get out there and learn to ride in echelons.

I think one or wo posters need to get some glasses :D I was specifically saying I don't mind it during the week or also training rides. Just want to have a relaxing long ride out at the weekend for a change. know what I mean, Harry?

Or maybe something was happening on Sunday...Fathers Day? Therefore the number of male cyclists was reduced as some men were doing things like going out for lunch with their kids. The club I ride with was down on numbers for this reason and we also did a short blast to allow those Dad's with understanding wives/children to get back to enjoy the day with them.

My guess is wind or no wind there will be a fair for more out next week.
