Managed to get in a ride in this morning and amazingly it was reasonably dry considering. A little bit of wind (12mph)... but not as bad as it could have been.

Managed 65 miles with 5000 ft of climbing in around 4 hrs, which I think must be a PB.

As usual, Strava doesn't have any elevation correction, so always shows a little bit more!
Also managed a few PB on a few local climbs.

And better still.... got home to a few presents for Fathers Day. Can the day get much better? :)

Hope all the days are having a good Father Day :)

    Well done!

Managed 45 miles this moning myself, no PB's - was pretty wet during entire ride, which I find a bit demotivating (I know, MTFU).

Still came home to find a new Cycleops jet fluid pro waiting for me for Fathers day - so no more excuses!

    Don't know about great day!

Went out and did a bit less than 60 miles (approx 58 miles) in just over 3 hours on winter Kinesis bike with mudguards (I was expecting rain and got bloody drenched last Sunday)

Returned home to find the house empty and didn't have a key - looks like the doghouse again for me but hey-ho. Should have stayed out longer! :D

Got woken this morning with a present. The good lady is out on a charity trek, so my daughter and I have been to the cinema and the park, now awaiting for the good lady's return so I can go out for an afternoon ride. 8)

Got up early and road the 100k route of the Trossachs Ton. Back for lunch made by the kids and my wife is now taking them out so I can get some sleep. It's her penance for walking me up, crashing into the room at 2 am drunk :D

Yepp, Fathers day is one of my favs. It coincides nicely with the Cotswolds audax so I went off and spanked it doing that, had a lovely nosh at the end followed by a nice snooze and now I am sitting up having a lovely cup of tea and a large cake that my girls made for me whilst I was out (Chocolate, with chocalate chip, icing and made in the shape of a rabbit, in case anyone is wondering :) ).

No sign of my Cycleops trainer yet though, maybe they are still wrapping it...

    Looks a lumpy route

Did 80miles in just over 4hrs today with 2 other riders down to Midhurst and back. Forgot to enable the GPS on the phone so dont have the chart to show you.
Average speed 18.7mph, from past rides thats about 2,000 metres of climbing

Now that's where I'd like to be.... close to 19mph averages with decent about of climbing! Sadly not there yet, but improving.

Yes, was rather lumpy, but obviously planned. Two of the climbs appear to be Cat 3 and the other Cat 4 (only what Strava states). I did part of the route in March with a friend, so it was a bit of a solo test to see if I've improved in the last few months. Seemed to be around +1.5mph from my last attempt... so at least going in the right direction. Also seemed reasonably paced... so think a 100 miler could hopefully be completed at the same pace, although think I'd be a bit buggered at the end.. and not exactly drinking a few glasses of wine and having to look after two small children!

Still seem to really struggle with the very steep sections (25-30% incline) as the only way I seem to be able to tackle them is out of the saddle. Being 82kg probably doesn't help on the hills.. but what's interesting is that my 'VAM' appears highest for the hill that I appeared to put the least amount of effort in, but didn't have the very steep sections, even though it was one of the Cat3's.

Off topic... it's probably the first real attempt to use RideWithGPS to plan a route via the B roads etc with the Edge800 for course guidance and it worked flawlessly.

A good day was had today as also went out with the extended family for lunch... but I did have a few glasses of wine which made staying awake pretty tough this afternoon!

Looks like everybody's day as as good.... but I did get a few books rather than a turbo trainer... now that is an extravagant Fathers Day present!

    Enjoy your evening everyone!

Not such a good day for me.

Got off to a good start, out early, sun shinning and excited to be riding after not getting out yesterday. Coming into Chedder from Bristol and a car pulled out in front of me by this petrol garage. Bike hit the front of the car doing about 20mph, I hit his windscreen then flipped over the roof and landed on the floor. Ambulance sirens, road being blocked off, people putting jackets over me to keep me warm... Proper drama. Then 4hrs in A&E..

I've been VERY lucky to get away with just minor damage to my shoulder and neck, but the bikes a write off..

Still got all my teeth though and the missus is giving my lots of tlc so thats helping.

    Be carful out there chaps.

Sorry to hear about the accident! Doesn't sound good at all. Glad that you seem to have got off lightly... and hope recover is prompt.

Any consequences for the dope that pulled out in front of you? ie police involvement? That must constitute driving without due care and attention

Hope you make a quick recovery!

@Zoomer37 Ouch, hope you make a full recovery and the other guy pays up...

As to Father's day, wanted to get out for a nice 50k in the sunshine, but ended up spending the whole day hunting down an electrical problem on my son's Honda VFR800 that was causing the engine to cut out randomly at motorways speeds (not a good thing) - eventually traced it to a dry-joint on the instrument panel... and then we had a power cut from 12 til 7ish... and now I have three days of wet weather commuting to look forward to :(

Bad luck there Zoomer37, here's to a swift recovery. It may take a bit longer for your confidence to return but it will sort itself out. Hopefully you can at least get the bike replaced.

Police were on the scene very quicky and the driver (who turned out to be a cyclist himself..) admitted full responsibility straight away. Have to go to the station tomorrow so not sure what they are planning to do.

My Storck took a lot of time and money to get it how I wanted it so im gutted, but no broken bones so as long as everything can be replaced quickly then thats all im concered about.

Bad luck fella, shouldn't you have been turning left there to head up the gorge?

Ah that sucks Zoomer - make a quick recovery and glad you are safe.

My fathers day was to take part in the 75 mile route on the Great Notts Ride - thoroughly good day out and very well organised event. Back by lunch for a couple of pints and then afternoon in the garden with wifey and little boy - only downside is I snapped one of my teeth in half and ate it, while wolfing down some food, so dentist this morning
