You need to cut the steerer down.0

Tell you what, that's a nice looking frame that is. Looking forward to seeing the finished thing.
Do you have anything in particular planned for the wheels?
Also, tell you what would look SWEET on that bike, and that's some of the Blue X0 gear.
Mmmmmm.0 -
nice looking bike i've got one in the black/red colour and also gone for the same headset and fork apart from it being the World Cup version

Thanks!
Still havent decided on the groupset, im thinking either the blue x0 you suggested or the new XT dynasis stuff(Not wishing to restart one of the great debates of the MTB world, but of the groupsets I've tried, I've prefered the Shimano to the Sram).
Colour scheme is probably going to be blue/orange but it is proving very difficult to find anything blue that matches(I did have some blue decals for the revs but they didnt quite match so I took them off.)0 -
Haha, no need for "that" debate here. Just go with what you feel is best. To be fair, even though I'm a proper SRAM fan, that new Shimano stuff (with the exception of the chainset) looks really REALLY good. I especially like the look of the brakes.
Orange stuff is good, but believe me when I tell you it can be VERY difficult to get matching shades from different manufacturers.0 -
Im probably going to get most of the bits from superstar so it should all match...(I hope!)0

Probably not very well without a chain
Looking good though, I was expecting the superstar wheels to be a bit too blingy, but the fit in very nicely actually.0 -

I gawp at these frames whenever I visit on-ones website and have to say it looks stunning in the flesh. Let us know how it rides.0
-
Some pics from first ride:
It is brilliant to ride-very little pedal bob, light, stiff and quick. Its perfect for our local trails-cannnock chase etc.0 -
Drool....
Where'd you buy the headset from, and why not the FSA one from on-one?
Have you stuck it on the scales yet?0 -
Thanks!
The headset was bought (new, he'd bought the wrong size or something ) off someone on mtbr. It worked out cheaper than the fsa, especially as I would have needed a crown race reducer for the non-tapered fork.
Weight is around 27lbs on the bathroom scales, have yet to weigh it properly0 -
Weighed at swinnertons last weekend, 27 lbs dead on according to their park tool scales.
Not liking the nobby nics at all so might swap the front for a high roller or advantage soon.
It all seems to be working well so far and is much quicker than the apollo! Might also get some lower rise bars and chop the steerer down further to finish it off.0 -
How are the wheels? Nice bike btwMy Rockrider 8.1

The wheels are great, excellent value for money and range of colours. Whilst not being superlight, they area good weight for the the money. They have been reliable so far and the hubs spin and engage nicely. The rims seem tough, but are a bit narrow if you are planning on running wide tyres. I would definately reccomend them, but prehaps with a mavic or stans rim if you don't need the bright colours!0 -
How about these in orange, would finish off, lovely bike great colour scheme
