eBay Chinese/HK clothing

In the same way as we've had the ongoing "who has ordered a cheap Chinese carbon frame" debate on here, has anybody gone down the route of getting in any of the (no doubt counterfeit) clothing like shorts/jerseys off eBay from China or Hong Kong?

I'm not normally into buying trade clothing but some of the current deals of no more than £35 posted for both jersey & bib shorts look too good to not consider, especially for clothing to use when the weather isn't all that. Fed up of trying to get road grime out of £60+ Campagnolo/Endura shorts.

If so, I just wondered how do you find the items? Is the quality OK or is it all to be avoided? How good are the short inserts? Did you get stung for import costs when the parcel came through customs?

Suffice to say, all the sellers have decent feedback but you never know 100% with eBay, especially in terms of items coming from the far-east.

I bought one from a site that was recommended on here. It took about 10 days to arrive and whilst I was expecting it to be poor quality, it's pretty good.

I still would have preferred to buy the original as I don't like snide gear but it just wasn't available in the UK.

I'm pretty sure I paid about £28 all in.

I wouldn't buy shorts this way as chamois quality is everything.

  • I have a couple of the HK kits... Quality is ok for the money... Bib shorts are the noticeable difference... Genuine ones are far Superior due to Fitting better and definatley more Comfortable on Long rides due to he better quality chamis..

It's fine. For £35 or so for shorts and top - it's good value. It will well outlast the lifetime of the design anyway.

i have a couple of sets and find them fine, the qaulity is pretty good and the pad is fine.

the monton branded ones seem to be by far the best

I was sceptical but a friend recommended them, so I went ahead and got a set.
I've got no complaints about the quality, the padding is fairly comfortable even on my longer rides and the fit for me is good.
Well worth the £30 and I'm considering buying more.

they look good, but when you come to riding in it the performance is terrible.
my sky shorts went into the bin after the 1st ride, it was like someone had put grease on my saddle, i was all over the place. possibly the worst ride ever.
    do not buy!!!

yea its absolutely shocking, as much as I do like the whole chinese carbon frame side of it, the clothing is awful, measurements are out, baggy round the arms and fell short on my midriff.

Stay away from the clothing guys =/
  • Fit and quality are both fine by me. Im a normal shape, 5 10 thin but not too skinny....I fit a large just right.

Got a jersey (Rothaus Cube) and the U in CUBE was upside down on the sleeve, much to the amusement of my workmates! I emailed seller and he refunded something like $10 back so a nice jersey, delivered from the other side of the word cost about £10. I would, however, avoid any kind of cheap sh*t for your P.O.C.

    I recently bought these;-

The quality seems pretty good, the design on the shorts isn't wonky like the ones in the pictures. The fabrics feel quite nice, though the shorts don't have flatlock seams they don't really feel any different to proper quality shorts and the bib comes up a little bit high on the stomach (makes peeing a little awkward). But the padding works well for me.
The jersey is also good, the only things I don't like is the zip feels a bit lightweight and the pockets are a little on the small side. But the fit is really nice (small jersey for me) and the fabric and design looks good. Don't know why they call them Cervelo Castelli though, there's no Cervello on them.
Put it like this, its better than anything you'd get in Lidl or Aldi and it looks the business.
I may even invest in another set, but that depends how well these last.

I bought my first top from China of Ebay for about £15

At the time I had nothing to compare it to, it felt just OK, a little tight and th zip felt as though it would not last (although 18 months on it is still ok)

I then bought my 2nd from wiggle Liquigas top educed to £25.

All I can say is I would never buy the chineses type again. If you shop around and are prepared to take what is on offer, you can get some bargain tops, and in my experience they do not compare, I hardley ever wear the Chinese one now.
