HI, sorry if this question has been repeated 100 times before, I am looking to by my 3 year a Specalized hotrock for his 3rd birthday, it is obviously his first bike, the issue is with sizing I don't want to take him to a shop to be sized for the bike as it is a birthday present, he is of average size for a 3 year old what would be better a 12 or 14 inch?

TIA

So you think a 14inch would be better?

    Yes i would think so

According to my wife my 3 year old has little legs and a bigger body.
You could measure his inside leg and check it against the bike.

And yeah, sure, all kids are different, and progress at different stages and have comfort with different things yadda yadda.

First bike? I'd go for a balance bike.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

We did this first from 2 years old and got him riding just after Christmas on his Cnoc 14 at 3years and 2 months old

    But agreed Balance bike first.

If cash is an issue, just get a bike that he can touch the ground on with the saddle at its lowest point and take the pedals off. When he can balance, put the pedals back on.
