clipless pedals and shoes

Hello peeps,

I'm looking for clipless pedals and shoes that will help me up hills and generally improve my cycling. anyone have clipless pedals and shoes...if so where did you get it from? when buyig clipless pedals which shoes go with that pedal?

    Hi i think you ll find that a lot of people on here started going clipless with shimano spd 520 pedals which you can get with cleats (the bit that attaches to your shoes) for about £20 then just get a decent pair of shimano shoes such as m077 for £60 and job done . They are double sided so easy to clip in and will get you used to being clipless you can then at some point go to full road pedals if you desire for the negligible benfits they give you , if your going to be commuting regualrly unclipping spd pedals and shoes are the way to go.

    thanks for the great advice...i take that whichever pedals i get..it will fit on any bike? sorry hope i dont sound too stupid for this forum.

    Yes, any pedals will fit any bike. There ar however a number of different pedal systems (that is how the pedals fit onto the shoes). Perhaps the initial decision you must make is whether you want to be able to walk in the shoes - if you do you probably be limited to the Shimano SPD (mountain bike) type system as mentioned above - (I use Specialized shoes for these). Not all shoes will accommodate all cleat systems so you need to match them up.

    Have a trawl through the Wiggle website to see the options.

    You a roadie? If yes then Look's Keo's are a good start. If you clip/unclip a lot then use MTB clips but the road clips/pedals are way more efficient.

    don't get involved, don't be one of those "just buy speedplay zeroes" advocates, ah sod it. Buy speedplay zeroes and get some coffee cap covers for walking on :D best pedal system ever.

    alternatively, shimano m520/m540 will probably do you fine.

    I have Zero's and I have some M540's on ebay currently, finish on Sunday! ;)
