    In this case, lack of money makes the world go round.

    Astana were offering Liquigas 6 million euros for Nibali and got pushed back. Gilbert has rejected them so they're clearly desperate for a huge name on their squad.

    Riis is struggling. Cuddly Bob is struggling. Bruyneel won't care as he just wants to large it in the west end and never think about cycling again.

    Yes, that's what I meant.

    There seems to be a serious lack of cash in the sport now. I guess this is the effect of the recession hitting home.

    Saxo and Astana seemed to be getting on just fine at the Giro. Stuff seen during the coverage included, Alberto helping Tiralongo, Astana soigneur passing bottle to Alberto, Kreuziger chatting with Saxo car, the Astana bus always parked next to the Astana bus etc. :wink:

    Bjarne wants the backing, Vino has the money to spend on stars. I would say Astana holds the cards.
