Could I run a 3.5" full suss frame with a 100mm fork?

Hi Guys,

Thinking of upgrading my bike to a full suss frame with 3.5" of travel. If I fitted my 100mm fork to it, would it upset the geometry? The frame in question is a 07/08 Giant Anthem frame.

Thanks,

Steve

It will make it slightly slacker. But depends on the crown axle height too.

Many reported this bike rode a bit better with a longer fork anyway as is very steep from stock ie it makes it a little less twitchy.

most of the giant anthems come with around 100mm anyways i doubt it will play with the geometry too much. however i agree if you went for a 120mm on the front it will make the bike alot less twitchy on higher speed riding.
i once man handled a flame thrower

I think the 09 models on, come with 100mm forks, the older models and the one I'm looking at came with 80mm.

I think the normal rule is to go with the 100mm max on the 07/08 and 120mm on the 09/10 one. I've rum my 09 with 130mm and it handles just fine

I checked the geometry and it has a 72 degree head angle, and the reviews say this is quite steep. I'm not a fast balls out rider and take things easy because of a bad back, and ride local trails with a few trips to the local Welsh trail centres . I have a Rock Lobster team tig at the moment, and that has a 71 degree head angle, which seams to be OK.

I don't really understand the geometry thing, so will this type of frame be suitable for me?

    Thanks.

One month ago I retired my trusty Rock Lobster and built an Anthem, was a bit concerned about what I'd read about steep steerer angles but after a few yards riding just couldn't believe how good it was. Think the previous reply saying 100 for the " old" Anthems and 120 for the newer version is bang on. Put the 100mm's on and start grinning.

Is this your first full suss, and what stem length are you using?

    Thanks,
