Hi,

I fitted some Kool Stop Black pads this afternoon and noticed that they do not have an entirely flat profile and at the back end of the pad they have quite apronounced lump,

It makes the pads appear as if they are 'heel in' rather than slightly 'toe in' - is this normal for Kool Stop or have I made a simple error in installation? they seem to stop me very quickly so maybe I am looking for a problem that doesn't exist...

    IIRC, Kool Stops have a little 'ramp' on the heel. This serves two purposes;

    1) It provides toe in. It lifts the heel, and you'll note that the main braking surface is at a slight angle to the rim, so that the toe contacts before the rest of the braking surface.
    2) It acts as a scraper to help to clear and water or debris off the rim.

    Sounds like you've installed them correctly.
