So, recently i crashed my bike, and my seat post is basically stuck in the tube. Ive tried everything to get it out, went to my lbs, they said about heating up the frame, that thought wants to remain in the back of my mind for the time being, considering the bike is about 6weeks old!

My mate works at Cycles UK and he said something about cutting the seat tube, but surely this would weaken the frame a lot, or if it was welded back again it would be ok?

I honestly have no idea what to do at the moment, and as you can imagine as its new, im really pissed.

Was thinking of getting a new frame, maybe a FS and exchanging all the parts..

any help, ideas or where i should go on from now would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

read the 12 ways to remove a stuck seat post on Sheldons Pages.

Your mate would have said cut the seat POST not tube. Again See Sheldon.

have you tried undoing the clamp?

Sorry couldn't resist! I'd try sawing the top off of the post, welding a block of metal to it and drilling a tapping it, then get a slide hammer on the job.

Tip frame upside down, use penetrating oil for a few days then grip the seatpost or old saddle in a vice and it should come out.

Prevention is better then cure - use grease next time!

To be clear, what material is the frame, what material is the seatpost?

Which bit is scrap, the post or frame?
