I am going to visit my parents in France in the summer (i'm in the UK). My flights are already booked and it cost a LOT more to send my bike so i just decided not to do it.

They have some amazing trails across the mountains just meters from thier door though and i really want to send my bike there ad back for the week i'm out. does anyone have any reccomendations?

    Rent.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Iv sent stuff up to 15kg to France for about £75 before.

Probably best to send it over a week or 2 before you go as the Airline you fly with will charge a bomb!

MTFU and ride your bike to France via the ferry.
Sell the plane ticket to someone with smaller feets.

    What Daz said.

    +1

I wouldn't risk sticking my bike in the post.

You could try this if you have a decent sized bag:

Double check with the airline first before you look at shipping, as there probably wont be much in it, and some airlines (i know BA did, not sure about now) will do it for free if you let them know in advance as it falls under a 'sporting goods' category. Obviously if you just rock up at the airport with it, have a mortgage advisor on standby because you'll need him!
Cost me an extra £60 return (with a budget airline) to take a bike to whistler a couple of years ago, would have been £30 but as it was a 40lb-odd dh bike they made me pay for 2 bikes. 1 bike = 16kg so i had loads of spare allowance for tools riding gear lock etc
Plus the disadvantage of posting it is you be without the bike for a week-10 days before the hol, and the same again after, and using snowden_88s price, its still going to cost £150, more if you want faster delivery.
Rentings good, but get it sorted before you go, otherwise youll be left with the POS that noone else wants and have to pay through the nose to get it.
