Merlin cycles have kindly sold me a set that doesn't fit together :? but they are bike specialist retailer so no.. so i may be doing something wrong
okay I've gone to fit my FSA Gravity Gap crankset, bb like a glove but i slotted the axle thru and noticed it sticks out 2" on non-drive side which is a bit much even by my noob mechanical workings
It appears that I've been sold a 68/73 chainset with a road bb that doesn't fit unless the bb shell was 83mm maybe, but then the supplied bb is only for 68-73 shell :? . FSA BB-7000 (p/n 200-1883) this http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?x=Order+Enquiry+Detail&p=Product+Detail/FSA+Gravity+GAP+MegaExo+Chainset_2197
in the pic it has big chunky cups........
p.s. followed the manual so hope I couldn't have gone far wrong, I've tried to fit them so where would I stand with a replacement :?:

so lets see what you actually have."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I don't see how this could be fitted in any sort of setup together :? possibly if the bb were 83mm model
previously had howitzer ruktion crank & xr bb, these had the chunky bb cups like int' shop pic
sorry where can i upload the pics to?0 -
In the FAQ'sI don't do smileys.

as in your frame a bb and cranks as they are now."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Even checked the road FAQ's sir and I must be blind, anywho
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/153/img7359s.jpg/ old crankset looky like this one :?0 -
from that I would agree the 83mm crankset has been sent."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

two spacer rings on drive side, one on t'other side0 -
ah yes Nick i thought maybe so too but why then the 68-73mm bb, it pickled me
my guess is
correct crankset but wrong bb type been fobbed off with it as it would fit with the chunky cups imho0 -
wonder what are the chances of getting either part changed by the store after trying to fit em?
ill give them a call and see what they say, hopefully i will be singing their praise by this time tomorrow0 -

sorry oversized frame
If i sit the crank up to these cups i'm hitting the rear wheel arm each rotation.. also axle is same length as previous
larger cups on the Gravity bb-7550 that should have been with this kit I'm guessing would do the trick
it appears there are none in stock at the shop, are there any other brands that do 'oversized/chunky' cups on mega exo compatible bb's?
is there no such thing on mega exo and this crankset will never fit my mongoose0 -
Ok so you have the Quad cranks not the Gap?
the Gap use the 7000 BB and the Quad the 7500 BB.
either way you seem to have two halves of two cranksets."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

but anyway all faith in online retails restored a nice chap at merlin said pop it back int' post and he'd sort it basically0 -
seeing as my rebuild thread got deleted I'll continue here on eggshells :?
finally got the correct part, thanks to the 'shop' for sorting things out
whipped the little fella on & spent most of the evening trying to route all the cables properly then came online all excited to post and re-read sheldon & park as I soon lost confidence in my spannering when it came to setting the gears
anywho pics will come and possibly need a second opinion on my cable routing please0
