Hi folks, I`m a bit of a convert to flatties and tbh I think the 5:10 shoes aren`t the best looking or practicle for uk mtb`ing. I found a place that does the 5:10 dottie rubber outsole to re sole a pair of goretex appraoch shoes etc without having the downsides of a "skate" shoe

Might just get a discount walking shoe and get them re done with 5:10 rubber

Cool... and amazingly they are 5 mins by car from my office. Will have to check them out one lunchtime.
Although it ain't cheap. £35 for a repair!!! + £7.70 postage.
Makes sense if you have some Goretex shoes/boots. Don't 5:10s have a reputation for soaking up water like a sponge?
Anyhoo... Found these guys after a quick Google http://www.cheshireshoe.co.uk/rockboots.asp
Official stealth rubber repairers. And cheaper.Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

Shoes designed to not go backwards... Sorry.
It's shoe marketing speak for a robust trainer worn on the approach to an activity where you'd use a specialised shoe - ie rock climbing.
