I got a Bianchi just under 2 weeks ago, absolutely loving it. Have just about done my first 100 miles on it now & know I made the right choice for me.

However the Cube is really well laid out and better value for money in the groupset department.

Most people will just tell you to go with whatever fits/feels better, so take both of them out (maybe more than once) on a test ride & experiment!

Also whether you prefer Shimano or Campag.

Watch the sizing on Cube's which tend to come up on the small side. I'd be a 56 in most brands but got a 58 Cube and still had to fit a longer head stem - I could really have done with a 60

I can vouch for the Cube Agree GTC range - I love mine.

  • Do you have a love for Italy or couldn't give a sh*t ?
Thats the bottom line because you will get more bang for your buck if you buy a GERMAN bike

    Ps I ride a wilier

My perception from shopping around is that you are definitely paying a premium for the Bianchi name. Whether this is justified or not, I really couldn't say.

Some friends ride Bianchis and love them. A friend in Germany rides a Cube, and loves it.

You pays yer money and takes yer choices :)

Hierotochan nailed it though: try to get a ride, even if's just on a turbo trainer. You might find Bianchi at evans, but the Cube will be slightly harder to get a decent demo on.

you can always change/upgrade the bianchi to whatever spec you want. It's not quite so easy to change a cube into a bianchi though :D

Sounds like you want the Bianchi. That's a perfectly good reason for choosing it!

a mate of mine got the Cube around 8 weeks back and LOVES it, but if I was
looking for a new bike (I'm NOT, love, honest :wink: )
I'd go for a Bianchi, I know there are better bikes with more bang
for your buck, but just for the history, the heritage, the feel of the
whole brand identity, you should go for the Bianchi, IMHO.
Cold German precision engineering is all very well,
but the emotion and the passion of the Italians should
sway you to make the right decision...
    Hock or Chianti?
    Mercedes or Ferrari?
    BMW or Ducati?
Wiener schnitzel or Gnocchi al pomodoro?
    Jan Ullrich or Marco Pantani?

My case for the Bianchi, rests, m'lud..

Being in effect Austrian, I choose the german engineering. Wiener schnitzls are about 50 times better than any italian dish!

Personally I prefer function over form, and bang for my buck matters, be it 1,000 or 100,000 i'm spending.

Would you buy a blue diesel Ferrari or a red petrol Ferrari?

If you've chosen the Bianchi for 'heart' reasons then surely it's got to be celeste/Campag!
  • Don't forget you can't buy shimano pedals either, I had to change to look when I bought my wilier

I was torn between that choice, but managed to find an obliging LBS to give me a 3rd option:

Campagnolo throughout , even down to the pedals,
been using these for 18 months & they're mint....

if you buy a Bianchi that isn't Celeste, then you'd just as well buy a Chinese copy
and stick Tiagra on it

Lets get a few things straight:

    1) Biabchi is not really an Italian company - it part of a Swedish conglomerate which owns other bike brands.

    2) Even if the bike says made in Italy, the frame (unless its a very high end one) will have been made in the far east - most likely in the same factory as "chinese copies".

    3) Any connection with the Chrome and blue lugged steel frames of the past is limited to the colour of the paint and the badge which the Swedes bought.

    4) All the hype about "heritage" is just that - hype. What you are getting is a bike sold at a premium because of its badge - so may not be best value for money.

However, if you want to believe otherwise, then pay for the privilege.

Just to clarify, any Bianchi frame with the Reparto Corse logo on it is made in Italy.

That includes a bunch (if not all?) of the C2C Via Nirone 7's,
    which I wouldn't regard as 'high-end'.
The made in Italy sticker is just above the BB on the seat tube,
and the Reparto Corse logo on the chain stays.

Heritage is about keeping a passion for the sport rather than just reciting pure history.
If I climb my local (tiny) hill riding in the drops & feel like Pantani then who is it harming?

"Made in Italy" is a meaningless statement - in order to confirm to EC law

"Goods the production of which involved more than one country or territory shall be deemed to originate in the country or territory where they underwent their last substantial transformation."

I thought that Bianchi frames are welded in Taiwan and then finsished off and the bike assembled in Italy. Those with carbon stays are welded in Taiwan and then assembled/finished in Italy. It is commonly believed that the Reparto Corse designation is now merely a bit of marketing hype relating to design and production control. Bianchi themselves are very guarded as to the source of their frames.

Of course none of this detracts from the fact that they are a nicley finished and a good looking bike but, sell at a premium because of the name.

Same old arguments...same old stories... :lol
I have a Bianchi bike (and drive an old (classic)VW). I love my Bianchi and find it supremely comfortable over very long rides.
Try 'em out and buy the one you like most and ride them...see you out on the road.

You are likely to find that the geometries of the Bianchi and the Cube are slightly different and by implication one will feel a slightly better fit than the other - buy that one!

Can't comment on the Cube, but had my Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Alu Xenon Comp 11 for just over a week.....

    WELL PLEASED.....

My first venture into road biking since my 1986 Peugeot, and certainly no complaints, with many admiring glances form other bikers...
