12.35 - there's a helicopter hovering over what looks like the New Oxford Street area, and a strong smell of a bonfire wafting in through my window.

Can't see anything on the news.

Aha - I was wondering what that was all about. Just reading the Indie article and it says the fire is in some flats...it still amazes me a bit that some people live right in the centre of town...."where do you live mate?", "The Strand", "What....THE Strand" :shock: , etc

nah, buildings too close to the window. I just went rooftop and can see it. Doesnt look all that, but can hear more fire engines en-route
