Hi all. Wasn't sure where to post this but need some help dealing with road rash.

Took a fall 2 weeks ago and my knee took the brunt of the damage, tearing knee warmer to shreds in the process!

All fine I have been nursing a couple of lovely scabs on the knee for the last two weeks but over the last week I have developed what can only be described as spots all around the area in large clusters which are awful.

Just trying to work out if this is linked to the road rash or something else? Just seems strange that it's only around the area of the grazes.

Cheers

Theres another thread in 'Cake Stop' about road rash going at the moment, but go to the doctor's / chemist asap to make sure you haven't got blood poisoning. Get well soon.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

Have you dressed the wounds with anything that you may be allergic too?

...possibly an allergic reaction to the plaster adhesive?

Cheers guys - I didn't use a dressing as it wasn't that bad just two scrapes about 3-4cm wide on the knee. The knee warmer took the brunt of it!

The spots are everywhere from my short line down to below the scabs and because they are concentrated around the point of impact and nowhere else on my leg or other leg I can only assume its related to the scrape?

I have been giving it a good scrub over last 24hrs and then applying Savlon so will give it 24hrs to see if any improvement and then will see doc.

I just wanted to see if this was common with road rash and clearly it isn't!! haha

Get to the docs asap mate, blood poisoning can turn very serious very quickly. I'm not saying it is that, but worth being on the safe side.

You're not being very clear as to wear the spots are - are they from the short line to below the knee or just around the wound or ontop of the wound? How many are there? Are they puss filled? Itchy? Is the skin hot to touch? Is the scab leaking, smelly?

As you can tell so many facts and observations go into making a diagnosis which is why NHS direct is crap and doctors are never short of business.

Once got 999 call for fall ? Collapse. On arrival the old lady had dropped her tv remote and wanted it picking up!

Doc was unconcerned and said almost certainly foliculitis but couldn't explain why it had come up only around the wounds. Prescribed some antibiotic cream.

    Cheers for the advice all
