No sprays? What about Juice Lubes 'Fork Juice'? Have I been doing something bad?

WD40 and GT85 are both no goes. Silicon sprays and Fork Juice which is silicon spray will be fine.

How about Finish Line Dry (Teflon lube)?

I had to cough up £100 for a service the other day. Don't want to be accelerating the deterioration...

    I use stendec fork lube

Its similar to the old judy butter.

Works a treat on both forks and rear shock. A little goes a long long way!!!

what does GT85 and WD40 do? does it just break down the oils inside the forks? or does it deteriorate the seals?

WD40 and GT85 could potentially damage the seals. Fork Juice gets my vote but some fork oil on a clean rag will do the job.

GT85 breaks down fork seals? Anyone actually know this to be a fact? I was advised by the LBS that this was the way to clean them after a ride - spray GT85 on a rag, wipe the stanchions, compress the fork and wipe of any dirt ring that appears. Repeat until no dirt comes out. It certainly works in removing dirty that gets under the seal but obviously nobody wants to damage their forks.

Stuff like that Stedec looks too thick to do this sort of cleaning. Or does it work the same? I would have thought a fine oil was needed?

The stendec does the job better, smear the stanchions then cycle the fork wipe away the dirt and repeat until the stanchions are clean!!!!! and with the added bonus of applying a thin water repellent coating to the wiper seal so less muck gets in next time!!!!!

It has all the addetives to perlong seal life etc..... Read the tech spec make your own mind up!! I love it tho!!!

I use the stendec Fork Fluid (oil) both for filling my forks and for cleaning/lubing the stanchions.

This stuff in a 15wt is what goes in my Tora leg lowers (15ml in each) and I use the same stuff for lubing the stanchions.

Works a treat and does 2 jobs for years for £5.99
