Rust issue

Hi, any tips on how to get rid of rust at the top of the fork tube under where the stem and spacers go, dunno if its surface rust either i think it is but not sure

    Im sure it will be surface corrosion.

    Get some scoth brite ( the green stuff you clean pans with ) and just scrub it away!! If its a ittle deeper get some wet and dry paper and again just buff it away!!

    Once your done getting rid of it all clean the surface with isopropanol (brake cleaner) and you can either apply a small amount of copper slip (anti seize paste) or go buy a tin of hamerite smooth metal primer and give it one realy thin coat.

    I used one of those green scouring pads this morning with some kaboom and a bit of wd40 to loosen the rust it worked a little bit but still some there, thanks for the advice mate.

    Most bikes with steel steerers will have some corrosion there. You just don't see it. I wouldn't worry unless it looks like lace.

    True True mate, just you dont usually expect to see rust on the steerer tube right near the top i have never come across tht on other bikes i had, makes me wonder for an 09 P7 when the last time was tht it was serviced???

    clean up all the rust then coat with acf-50 spray every now and then this should keep the rust away.
