I've been loving Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. That's on telly though.

Lee Evan's has been the one who's really made us laugh on the Ch4's Comedy Gala's last 2 years. Also Alan Carr's Tooth Fairy DVD from a few year ago was suprisingly very very good.
Oh, and that long haired londoner off Ch4's comedy gala has been brilliant, sorry can't remember his name - got it now, Micky Flanagan, he's absolutely class.

Peter Kay at the O2 on Friday - superb

Nick Page, Anna Keirle and Dougie Dunlop on Saturday night in a tiny venue. Absolutely brilliant. Nick Page in particular was superb, although that was mainly down to ad-libbing some of the stuff after he realised a few of us had heard his "how I didn't quite get to jail for crimes I really did commit" material before.

if you look at the faces in the audience of stewart lees show its like a funeral parlour. Even he knows its bad. He used to be ok....now he's just fat....but that in itself is funny.

    ....now he's just fat.....

Stewart Lee's not "just fat" he's like a fat Morrissey who's let himself go a bit, he's like a fat Mark Lamar who's let himself go a bit, he's like a fat K D Lang who's let himself go a bit, he's...

saw him live recently, funnniest comedian I ever saw - especially when he's repeating the same joke over and over to an audience that doesn't like him.

I think any stand up comedian who picks on a member of the audience clearly hasn't got enough good material.

I like some of the comedy Stewart Lee's done in the past but this series of Comedy Vehicle has been shockingly poor.

I've seen his last two live shows which this series is based on. I kind of agree.

In the theatre it was completely awesome but the little clips on telly don't work so well.

He also panders to folk that know his work, so there are little bits that the general populace just won't get.

That's not really true, is it?

It depends, I've been to a show where a member of the audience quite clearly thinks they are wittier than the comic on stage. Well Mr drunken tw@t in the audience, I didn't pay with my money and spare time to hear you shout your playground insults...so he deserved the hammering he got.

Back on topic...seen Mark Watson a couple of times and found both shows to be funny and varied. John Bishop was good a couple of years ago but may be suffering from over-exposure now.

Lee Mack is very good. Stewart Lee is a fat, jealous cock who isn't funny at all.

    +1 for Lee Mack !

I've seen Jimmy Carr a couple of times as well. He's very good !!

Jason Byrne is supposed to be very good live as well. He's touring at the moment, but all of his shows local to me are sold out :(

    Rhod Gilbert is great.

Jimmy Carr is too predictable now. One tour just blurs into the next.

Agreed for Lee Mack. As I've already said for Stewart Lee, when he's good, he's great. His sketch on Diana's death, for example:

That's why I've been so disappointed with the current series.

Some good comedians named already, but Daniel Kitson is the best around IMO. He is not your typical stand-up, but if you have never seen him then you should. I shall be seeing him again at The National in October, can't wait.

Very much a fan of Stewart Lee's comedy vehicle. Although some episodes are considerably better than others.

Just don't find Stewart Lee funny at all. He just sounds like someone with a huge chip on his shoulder.

Andy Parsons and Russell Kane are two other good stand ups but I also like Dara O'Briain.

The jury is in Stewart Lee can be added to hemets & RLJ as a love or hate at least without the OTT personal abuse tho.

Comedy Vehicle is passable for me but his Lee & Herring stuff was top class.

Rhod Gilbert is the best live I've seen recently & Johnny Vegas before he really made it big was my favourite ever comedy gig.
