Trans Pennine Trail - Southport to Manchester

Hi,

I'm planning to do part of the trans pennine trail later this summer with a couple of mates. Anyone done this before? If so, how long did it take you? and what's the trail like?

It is all easy riding as the surface is either tarmac or hard pack, 95% of it is off road and well signposted , will take you about 6 to 8 hours.
