Hi, I’m using a 9 speed - 3 chain ring Octalink Crankset at the moment (FC-M442) and it's time to replace it.

BB is still okay and I’ve been looking for another M442, Doesn't seem that easy to find them in the UK.

Can anyone tell me of any equivalent models i could use? Wondered about if a Shimano Alivio 9 Speed Octalink Crankset (FC-M430) would work as a replacement?

It's got the same amount of teeth on each chain ring and I’m assuming that the BB fittings would be the same?

Has anyone changed a M442 for a M430?

Cheers!

    they need different length axles.

Why do you want to replace the chainset, can you not just replace the chainrings?
  • I thought about changing the rings, the small and middle rings are quite worn and the large one will need replaced at some point. I thought it might have been easier just replacing the whole lot but it looks like i might need to buy them individually and go from there.

Does anyone know if the M442 has been discontinued?
