For those who have not seen it:
http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/r ... nge-30429/
No more Tora with the look of it, at leas in name: Recon Silver and XC32 are the budget forks. Dart is the XC28.
With even more forks and damper options, and a confusing naming system, I am not looking forward having to learn all this!

You've got to learn it all, mate, otherwise who will we ask?
I've got Pikes on the Mongoose, which I think are pretty good - did the Revelation replace the Pike fork?0 -
Pike and Reba were released for 2005, with the Revelation being intoduced in 2006 which is a less burly, lighter long travel fork.
Closest thing to the Pike today is the Argyle RCT.0 -
Ooo that white Monarch shock looks great!0

Bloody hell, at that price I'd better make the Pikes last!0 -
I'm waiting for the Totem with Compression, Lockout, Internal Threshold, Openbath Rebound and Integrated Shimstack.0
-
I understood 'with' and 'and'. :oops:0
-
Look at the initials of the spec hehe0
-
Ha!
I'd have never bloody noticed that.0 -
Im looking at buying some Rebas, do you think this years models will drop in price when the 2012's come out, is it worth waiting?0
-
They usually drop a little, but are so good value at the minute anyway is hard to be sure.
Next years are lighter. This is what I thought RS should have done a couple of years back.0 -
Thanks for the answer. maybe i should hold out for a nice pair of 2012's? will they still be rebas or something else0
-
Still Reba! But limited to 100mm max.0
-
Do you have a particular fave brand of fork, SS?
I have to admit that when I first got the Fox Vanillas on the Marin, I was amazed by the plushness etc. That said, I had only previously ridden Judys and Toras.
Since acquiring the Rebas and Pikes over the last couple of years, I think that the RS forks are pretty impressive. I have yet to experience other brands, but I do know a few riders who have reservations about RS, and seem to steer clear of them.0 -
Rockshox are my preferred, but it does come down to the models. The range is confusing, but there is a fork for just about everyone if you look hard enough, and are better value than Fox with generally more adjustability.0
-
Fox do seem to need a lot of attention.
I've had nothing but good experiences with RS, and I'd buy again, but preferably when there are deals flying around...as with any fork.
I think that nowadays if you have wear on the stanchions etc. it can sometimes be more cost effective to buy new forks rather than have them replaced...especially when the decent deals are around.
My Vanilla forks were showing slight stanchion wear on their last service, and to have them serviced and the uppers replaced it was almost £200.00, which compared with some of the sale deals on forks becomes quite expensive. That said, I wouldn't be able to get the same fork. I understand that TF and Mojo etc. have to make money though, so it's understandable that it's not going to be cheap to have such replacements done.0 -

Sorta kinda. Basically, the Pike is a stiffer, stronger fork than the Rev. But, Rockshox noticed that practically everyone that was using a Pike would be fine with the less hardcore Rev and saving half a kilo or so, and that if you want a monster fork an air lyrik is lighter than many of the Pike models. Also that hardcore bikes were leaning towards bigger forks anyway- 160mm travel's more acceptable/desirable than it used to be.
But most likely if you have Pikes now, what you'd replace them with is Revs or Sektors. Or old stock Pikes!Uncompromising extremist0 -

[tannoy]Miss BInt to the forum please, we need help finding C.L.I.T.O.R.I.S[/tannoy]0 -
SS, I have found these that are a 2011 model @ £250, would you say they were worth it and would suit my bike, i ride XC and currently have suntour SF11-XCR-DS-26-LO-SP 80mm, would these RS be a good upgrade with noticeable difference or would something else suit better.

They'd be an epic upgrade. Pretty much the only fork you'll ever need for that frame.0

Id say they would be an excellent upgrade. I havent seen a better price on those anywhere.0 -
I designed a suspension system that allowed the "complete use of natural terrain" . the cardboard prototype i made was awesome. Then Giant brought out the NRS before i could make a full size mock up and paten the design . I was gutted . Then I came up with a duel shock VPP which I called "full use of current knowledge" but it was to hard finding a pull shock .
that to was scrapped . It was a shame as the designs had real potential too .0 -
I like the sound of the two-step coil forks. Time will tell if they're any good (read work), but i'd hope they'd be a touch more reliabile than their air counterparts. What We Achieve In Life, Echoes In Eternity0

The 2-step (dual position) air Revelations seem to be reliable, it's the Lyriks that were awful.Uncompromising extremist0

Some people have had issues with the dual position air revs on mtbr apparently. However, mine(which havent been ridden yet, just taken out of the box) seem to work fine.0 -
Is 2-step similar to u-turn...but for air?0
-
nope... u-turn for air is called... "air u-turn"!
2 step is a system that shortens the fork by 40mm (?) instantly with the push of a fork top button. I personally think it's a great idea... but up until now it's had varying reliability...
the coil version they are bringing out will be more reliable hopefully!I like bikes and stuff0 -
Oops!
Ah, so it's an instant travel adjustment...sounds a good idea.0 -

Some of them look quite nice. Others look completely pointless. RS do seem to like making up segments of market to fill.
They're still light-years behind Bionicon anyway0
