Garmin Forerunner not Connecting

I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but ever since I bought a Garmin Nuvi a week ago my Forerunner 305 has stopped downloading to my computer.
I downloaded Garmin Connect for the Nuvi onto my laptop to connect to the Nuvi and now I can't connect to either the Nuvi or the Forerunner. I've downloaded the Garmin USB drivers and keep getting the same message that there's no GPS unit connected whenever I connect either the Nuvi or the Forerunner.
The Forerunner was working perfectly before I downloaded Garmin Connect. I've tried deleting Connect and reinstalled Training Centre, but it's still not working. I've got a Sportive in the monring and this is really bugging me now !
Anybody any ideas ?
