Looking at some second hand Rockshox Dart 2 forks for my lads bike (part of converitng to disc brakes on the cheap).

The forks we have been offered are Dart 2's with 120mm of travel but my lads bike is an older Hardrock frame so was wondering how easy and what is requried to take the travel from 120mm to 100mm on this fork, if possible ?

Is it as easy as inserting/removing a spacer ? or can it even be done with these forks ?

Thanks

I don't think it is possible to change the travel on those forks (they are coil) without buying a shorter coil assembly, which would probably cost prohibitive given the price of the forks.

I am pretty sure with the Rockshox Toras some models do use the same spring but with spacers to achieve different suspension travels - ie. 80mm - 100mm - 120mm.

I was hoping it was the same with with the Dart (2s) but maybe not ?

Take out the spring - is there a spacer on the bottom of it?

Don't know, haven't bought the fork yet. Was hoping someone in the know could tell me it would be possible.

If its a 'maybe possible but won't know until you open them up' I will probably decline buying them and look on ebay for a 100mm tora with a minor problem to service/repair.
