New Mtb arrived today Friday 10th.
Cube ltd race in anodised black... Problem is I cant stop standing and stairing at it in my house and even more importantly I can't bring myself to take it on it's maiden voyage for fear of getting it dusty!

If you had just received a brand new Mtb how long before you'd be hitting the trails?

Help

Look at and admire it the first evening. Take some nice pics for the 'Your Mountain Bikes' section. Then get out and go riding. Or go riding straight away.

You realise that's against the geneva convention?
Give the bike back, so that a dirtier person can have it, and treat it properly. They LIKE being abused.

Go out and get it scratched. Once that's out of the way, you're sorted.

Ugh... another Specialized on the trail..

Now go out and ride alongside all those 40+ fair weather riders who make up the majority of those summertime Specialized convoys I so often come across

I do admit I am over 40 but I am not a fair weather rider
I ride all year round thanks
I enjoy my riding either across Dartmoor or local trails and as far as I know have never had a convoy behind me

    Not a problem 8)
I do know what you mean though there does seem to be a lot of middle aged men that go out a buy a expensive bike and never ride it like it should be ridden all the gear and no idea springs to mind

Finished my 1st night shift at 7am on the monday morning, got a lift from work to the Lex's shop and waited around until they opened, rode out of the bike shop on my Cube at 9:30 and was on the Trans Pennine Trail by 9:32 for a couple of hours before I arrived at home, had a shower then went to bed before I got up for my 2nd night shift

A few months ago, I picked up my second bike (an now only) £2300 (which is a lot of cash to me) worth of Cube.

Admired it in the shop for 5 minutes whilst paying. Then straight in to the shops workshop to apply pedals, bike tape and a mucky nutz, then the rest of the day getting it plastered in mud, dist and stones.

Back in the shop for a quick tweak - home - hose - repeat the next day.

those cubes stand up to some beating and the paint work is mint. Treat yourself to some Muck off and a soft cloth. Mine comes up like new every time.

Haha yes totally agree. I treated my bike like some sort of goddess when I got it, first scratch and I instantly didn't care about how I treated it (within reason obviously...) - and started having a lot more fun with it! Since then I've had compliments from the guys in my local bike store for the condition of my bike (always half-brown) ;)

I'm currently saving up for a decent all-mountain, and will be thrown down a hill at the first opportunity.

Bikes are to be ridden, and look better muddy. Get on it
