Fork replacement/upgrade for X bike

Hi All,
After months of (ab)use I've decided the Kona P2 forks are a tad heavy and TBH I just don't like them!
My budget is £100 max and my bike has Kore sport canti brakes. I'm not fussed about being able to fit mudguards.
I like the look of the Kinesis Crosslight 3's. Anybody have experience of this fork?
Also, would a set of road forks stand up to light off road jaunts or do they need to be CX specific?
Would you consider a sub £100 fork an upgrade on the P2's???
