Hi, I've been looking for a bike for ages and still haven't made my mind up, despite some very helpful feedback from this forum.

I have a budget of around £250 (maybe push to £300) for a good quality hybrid bike, that I want to use for cycling around town, and maybe on some country paths every now and again on a cycling trip. But I don't take my cycling too seriously, so nothing too fancy!

Pretty simply question really, is this bike any good?

And how does it compare to this one?

I was actually very close to buying the gryphon, but bad halfords' reviews have completely put me off...I'm just trying to find another bike that has similar spec for a similar price. Any other suggestions would be great!

Any help would be much appreciated...

thanks

steve

The Carrera is better in pretty much every way. There are some really cheap, nasty parts on that Land Rover.

Out of those two I think the carrera would be the one to go for but thats just my opinion.

Out of those 2 the Carrera is an F1 car to the Land Rovers clapped out Escort, given that choice its a no-brainer.......

The Gryphon is a pretty competant bike for the money, there are a few round my way, none of them are slow (not even mine - though as its totally non standard it's not a fair comparison).

Just a bit of a bonus for you...

If you went for the Halfords bike .. check out: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/carrera ... rds/949669

Can save a bit of money! I could only get one of the codes to work (NUSJUN11) but it will save you 10%

Use quidco or topcashback to save even more!

I agree, but, how long is a piece of string, some people spend many times that on just the front suspension.

What is right for you is right for "you".

Try out as many as you can before buying.
