Evening all , replacing rear gear cable from deore 9 sp shifter (newer style).
Removed the top cover with the optical indicator and pulled out old cable but getting the new one threaded back in is a faff.
Do i need the take apart the shifter even further ?
Looked on shimanos tech page but lost the will to live after 5 mins lol.
Cheer peeps.

remove it.
now operate the lever till it is in 9 (small cog presuming it is not Rapid rise) and thread the wire in via the hole uncovered above.
all covered

cheers nick , are you suggesting removing bolt no.3 in the first tech doc then using a thin screwdriver or suchlike to bend the cable round and out through the adjusting barrel ?0

It should just go straight through if it is in the right gear (small cog). If you look into the hole you can see right through.I don't do smileys.
