In my experience the profile of a doper is always much more erratic and unpredictable.”

"The rest of us mere mortals have "magic days" when every so often when we can take on the world

So, dopers are erratic but the rest of us just have magic days. Isn't that erractic too?
Don't get me wrong, I like Millar, but I'm not sure that makes sense.

    I quite enjoyed the Miller interview, think he held himself well. You have missed a fair whack of the quote there, he was comparing the erratic results of your average doper, to that of Alberto Contador.
    "Alberto Contador is untouchable as rider, he is a physical freak and we in the peloton have known that for a long time and respect his supreme talent. I would be very surprised if he didn't end up as the greatest Grand Tour rider in the history of the sport. It’s a tragedy that he has got mixed up in this Clenbuterol thing but I am keeping an open mind on his case,” Millar told the Telegraph.

    "Does anybody out there seriously doubt that Contador was riding clean in the Giro d'Italia that has just finished? You don't win the biggest races in the world with such clockwork regularity and comparative ease, and in such style, by not being the supreme talent and clean. In my experience the profile of a doper is always much more erratic and unpredictable.”

    "The rest of us mere mortals have "magic days" when every so often when we can take on the world. Contador's default setting is a "Magic day". His only departure from the norm is when he experiences merely an average day. They are the only two levels he rides at. My strong instinct is to trust that."

    Better program better consistency.

    The man ignored the obvious over Lance for years, now he'll do the same with Bertie.

    OK, so,
    Bertie = cosistant=probably clean
    LA=consistant=possibly doped
    Average doper=erratic
    Clean rider=erractic

    I'm not quite seeing the pattern.

    Maybe reading the full quote and actually thinking about it little as opposed to simply selecting the 'juicy' bits might help you understand his point of view a little better.

    Another feature with Millar on the beeb, must be wanting all the publicity for the book he can get: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cycling/13698367.stm . Not sure about Millar's post-ride garb but 13m35s is a pretty decent time for a lap of Richmond Park.

    That's a nice cover - apart from the faded wheel.

    So did I...........then reading the anticipated despatch date a bit more carefully I realised it said June 2012 not 2011 :lol: Cancelled that order and ordered the hardback instead. Enjoying what I've read so far.

    Just finished it - it is a cracking read. He has some interesting things to say about pretty much everything really. I still don't think he should be allowed to ride in the olympics, but he's an interesting guy and I'm glad he's "pulled his life around".
