I'm pleased to announce the third Polocini event of 2011 following on from the successful Winter Sprinter and Kegs and Legs sportives. Our events are among the top rated on cyclosport.org.

We have two rolling routes designed with the usual inimitable Polocini flair. And even some cobbles. We don't aim for a set distance of say 100miles, the route is designed to flow properly.

51 Miles - This route takes in some stunning scenery. But doesn't contain the tough climbs of the longer route.

73/77 Miles - The longer route has a timed King o'the hill climb up Shibden Wall as featured in the book 100 Greatest Cycling climbs. The route also has the option to tackle Halifax Lane which is also featured in 100 Climbs. This is a challenging route which also takes in Cragg Vale which is the longest continuous gradient in England.

There is a fixed entry price of £20 in accordance with our Polocini Standard along with showers, changing facilities and all the other features that have become a fixture at our events. Not to mention Timing, photos, route maps, motorcycle outrider, sag wagon and of course cake and Haribo.

As usual all food and drink is included in the entry fee along with our CNP ProOption worth £18.50.

At Polocini we can be bold enough to state that we HAVE the best food at any sportive. At previous Polocini events we have had Viking porridge, Beef goulash with pasta,Tuscan meatballs & pasta, Channa & spiced couscous with mint yoghurt(v), Pasta with cream tomato sauce (v), Pig in a bun, bratwurst with spiced potatoes and chicken & chorizo jambalaya. Plus lots of goodies at our Feed Stations.

After the event we will be hoping to screen the days TDF stage.

There are no pointless goody bags. We are doing various prize draws for a bespoke bike fit, a full sportive outfit from ShuttVr, a month of cycling coaching and the chance for the winner and four friends to visit the CNP factory for a full tour and receive a nutrition seminar from Kerry Kayes and a bespoke nutrition package.

Over'tops Saturday 16th July 2011.
Oldham Rufc, Byrth Road. Oldham.

    Sounds fantastic Al!

Yet another of your sportives I won't be able to attend :(

    One day....
  • very tempting. Am doing a 135 mile hlly "challenge ride" the week after so this could be good last minute prep (plus a good chance to ride a couple more of the 100 climbs).

I wonder if I can get a pass from the wife though :?

Ahh, bummer. I'm in Wales on a family holiday that day :(

After seeing what food you've had at your previous sportives, I will deffo be looking to sign up for your next one after this.

And yep, like your idea of no pointless goody bags and saving a few quid.

I'm sure all who enter will have a fantastic day out.

    Good luck :D

Gutted I cannot make this (childcare and with a busy July no option to swap things around) the last sportive was really well organised for those that havent heard of Polocini then my last blog entry was about one of their earlier events.

Good luck to those that sign up for it, will be keeping my eye out for September's proposed event.

I couldn't make the kegs'n'legs event in May, so will be making a special effort to get to this one. The cobbles look hard work!
  • oops, just realised this is the day before, not the week before, my 135 miler. hmmmm, would be quite good fun to double up, if I can persuade the wife to let me disappear for a weekend

I like the look of this event and would give me a chanve to tick off some more in my 100 greatest climb book.

So this shibden wall looks quite bad to cycle due to the cobbles but who has cycled it and whats it really like to ride up. Bearing in mind that I may be on my good summer bike.
