Hi There,

New to the scene so forgive my questions.

Basically have been using a Cannondale F2 mountain bike for the road so far and have now bought a second hand Bianchi Nirone frame with forks.
I'm totally new to this and will be requiring some help /advice on what kind of groupset to go for. Its also the first time i'm going to build a bike.

So I will be riding on roads, aim to is to keep fit and improve my distance over the long term. No racing!! Aimis to do things like London to Paris etc...distance..80 miles on a Sunday morning type thing. I have managed to get up to about 50 miles at the moment. may seem like nothing to some of you but for a lazy boy like me i'm impressed.

Anyway back to the task in hand.

which groupset should i go for and why? i'm not a millionaire either and the Cannondale MTB is staying so that wont fund anything.

if you can recommend a wheel set too i would be most grateful.

Cheers,

W

    Hi mate.

First thing, get a budget and STICK TO IT.

Secondly, try visiting your local bike shops and trying out the hoods/shifters of each of the three main manufacturers (Shimano / SRAM / Campagnolo) and see which one you prefer. They are all excellent so comfort/aesthetics are really the only difference.

Again with wheels, you need to set a budget, tell us what it is and you'll get some recommendations. Off the bat I'd suggest some custom built Open Pro wheels but let's see what the budget is and I'll recommend further details...

Once you have a preference, shop around to see what you can get within your budget...

    Hope this helps!

You don't say what your budget is, but the Mavic Aksiums are a great starter at a reasonable price.

    +1

I built my bike up. I had a budget and spent sometime working out which kit I wanted. It's then just a case of shopping around picking up the parts. Check the classifieds on here too, many people upgrade parts of their new bikes and you can pick up some kit you've spec'd at very reasonable prices.
