On any given ride I sound like an asthmatic water buffalo for 20 minutes but then roll like cream for as long as I want thereafter. OK, I'm 40 and pollute the world with cigars but surely this is the wrong way around??
FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
CAADX 105 beastie for bumpy bits
Litespeed L3 for Strava bits

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

  • Sounds about right. I need about 7-8 miles before everything starts working properly - lungs open up and breathing feels good. Shame my commute's only 9 miles.
  • Takes me about 3 - 5 miles to get into my stride, after that I can go full pelt for at least 10-20 seconds :D

Yep. That sounds like me. (Apart from the cigar bit.)

Sounds about right - I'm just about warmed up by the time I get to work - on the trail I tend to be slow for the first 3-5 miles and then I'm OK - I don't smoke now but I did up to about 10 years ago

Yup - same as me - with cigars.

takes about 5 to 6 miles to start feeling like everything is working.

For me it is about 3-4 miles in the morning unless I have had some time off the bike (half term) in which case the first commute is a truly horrid experince. In the evening I am normally straight on it.
