Hi all. Currently have a Raleigh Avanti U6 pro and training to do a london to paris ride in september. Most miles I've done so far is 70, and after 40-50 it tends to become quite uncomfortable, with a fair bit of road buzz nagging away at the backside, and slightly uncomfortable riding position. Great bike, but questioning whether it's good for longer distances, as with my limited knowledge, I think its more of a racing road bike than a long distance one. It has carbon forks and rear end, but considering upgrading to a full carbon for a bit more comfort.

I've had a ride of a Wilier Izoard XP Veloce R5 today, but in all honesty, over the 5 minutes I had with it, it was hard to tell the difference, and it felt about the same in weight. The guy in the bike shop was extremely helpful and informative, but I dont think I'll really know until I've actually ridden it 70+ miles whether it will save the pain in my ass and neck/shoulders.

Anyone have any experience of this bike, or ay advice???

I'd have a look at getting your position right before you go splashing out on a new bike - there's no guarantees your new machine will be set up to fit you any better than your current one. I have an aluminium bike with carbon rear end and forks, and it's certainly comfy enough to be doing 100+ miles a day on.

I'd search a bit more on here for riding position to get an idea about seeing if there's anything you can easily do to make your setup a bit comfier. Also, if you're not used to doing big mileages it will keep aching until your body/backside gets used to it!
Has the head wind picked up or the tail wind dropped off???
