After about Pishill I completely fell to pieces and found it well hard, almost like a minor bonk despite eating and drinking sensibly...

Was it just me being rubbish, or had they adjusted the route from last year to add some particularly long interminable drags uphill?

The route is always the same, with the exception of the flat approach from/to Hyde heath, due to the change in HQ.
It's an unforgiving ride, it's always been.... 21 relentless climbs and very few sections where it's possible to enjoy a bit of freewheeling behind some big guy.
The 2.6 Km of climbing are real, unlike some events which boast 3 K of climbing, which are actually 2.
Dangerous roads in Bucks, yesterday I had to go and rescue the bike of a guy who had a bad accident on the Corto route...

I did the Grand Fondo yesterday. The last 20 miles was the hardest for me. Finished 6hr 50 in the end.

Very well organised event though, did'nt have to queue long to start, feed stations well stocked , signs posts were perfect. Weather held out and as soon as I got back it start chucking it.

Credit to the organisers. Will be back for a Gold medal next year.
