This event is still on and deserves more entries. Its a cracking route of 9 major climbs in 3170m in 107 miles starting in Appleby and venturing north into the beautiful N.Pennines. Some wicked descents too. There is also the shorter 115km route - which still goes over Hartside Pass.
I have used the roads and route as good training for pyrenees and Italy and thoroughly recommend it. No i am not the organiser, just someone keen to see the event get established.

Might be some interest here if you fancy posting, a lot of the guys are fairly local and Sportive hungry.
They had a good show in the Richmond 5 Dale and have a few entries in the Cyclone.

I was going to do this one last year but it was postponed to this year. I fancy it, I really do but have done the 5 dales and Le Terrier in the last two weeks and will have to try and get it past the better half. watch this space.
PS Book some good weather pleaseBrian B.0 -
46 participants is pretty shocking, but i've never heard of it. i've done a couple of the climbs on the coast to coast and am sure it'll be a great route. just a shame it starts in the middle of nowhere as if it started in the most north easterly point for example it would be close to the north east cities"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0

Not a cyclist but photograph a few. Have to express an interest as we are down to cover this event, we do it for the money and because we enjoy.
The event organiser is a nice guy who tries to put on great events that are a little out of the way. Smaller numbers mean that everyone gets looked afteras they should.
After reading the Dragon Rid threads if I were to enter an event I would go for this one.

I'd be there but I'm at my brothers wedding that day!
The organisers were responsible for the Keswick Sportive. I did this and it was brilliant - good route, well organised, good food stops, friendly bunch, etc, etc.
Hope it picks up some more entries!0 -

Middle of nowhere! - Appleby is the centre of the Gypsy Universe for those of you who didn't watch 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' on TV this year.
In seriousness it's a great route.0 -
I have entered this as my last Sportive before the Marmotte - it looks like a pretty testing route.
Dry, 25 degrees and no wind will be perfect thanks
The start will be very different from the Dragon Ride thats for sure.....

Entered this but just the shorter 115k route as my mates a bit nervous offf cracking the 100mile mark, looks a good little route.0
