Pick whatever you can afford from here:
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop ... S-DISC.htm
If you go for the centrelock hub, make sure you get a centrlock rotor too.0 -
i have no idea what is needed both disc wise and rim wise ideally i would like the rim to be the same as these rear in looks ie black and have the same shape, but as you can probably already tell i have no technical knowledge as of yet about mtb.
Of the list you kindly provided which would you best say suits my bike?

If you choose either a switch evo or superfast front hub in gold, brass nipples, sapim race spokes and a decent black rim such as a mavic 717, you will get a decent front wheel that is fairly similar to the rear wheel for about £100
Tbh, you wont be able to get something that matches totally, so it might be better to buy two wheels and flog the old rear one on here or on fleabay.0 -
Hate to say it but ... why oh why would you ride to the shops on a brand new Zaskar (or any decent MTB for that matter) and leave it outside in the open, when will people learn.
They dont need more than a minute to remove several parts from a bike, lock or no lock.0 -
Keep an eye on Ebay and your local Gumtree until the scumbucket tries to sell it.I don't do smileys.

yeah good idea cooldad.
would these wheels fit my bike? do the gearing sprokets change from my current rear wheel to a new wheel or do you have to buy specific wheels with the correct gearing?

They will not fit.
You need wheels with standard quick release axles. Like:
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop ... _2176.html
These will fit no problems, and the cassette will swap. You will ned centrlock rotors though for the discs:

These wheels are fine for XC and general trail riding. The DeeMax are downhill wheels.0 -
hi supersonic the merlin page does not load..
if i am to replace both wheels i will need:
2 sets of rims
2 inner tubes
2 tyres
2 hubs (preferably gold)
2 rotor discs (ideally with adapter to goto 183mm rotors)
rear gears (cassette??)
is this all?
sorry i must sound quite thick0 -
The rims, hubs and spokes come as a unit.
You will need the tyres, tubes, and rotors to fit your hubs, and adaptors for your calipers if you want to run bigger rotors than 160mm.
The bike is an XC bike, so unless you are very heavy or really hard, XC wheels will be fine.0
