Bike for Dartmoor

I want to replace my old Claud Butler HT with a new bike but dont know what to go for.
I currently ride Dartmoor offroad and ride out to the moor on the road.
I also ride the old train tracks with my wife and towing my daughter in her buggy (soon being replaced by a gator tow-along)
So what I need is a bike that does everything....
My budget is probably about 1200 max but for the right bike I would consider more.
So the question is, do you think I should get another HT or look at a FS?
I like the look of the Specialzed RockHopper and the CB bikes look good value. However the FS bikes do look interesting (although I've never ridden one so it would be a learning curve). I would also prefer to pay more for something that will last and not need new parts within the first year or two, bearing in mind that I've had my Cape Wrath for about 7 years now.

Don't know if FS will work with a tow along but Canyon bikes seem to be considered good value at the moment. You could always keep the old bike for those duties!

buy online so no try before you buy.0
