Forest of Dean

I'm going to Herefordshire on holiday in the summer, and should be going to the FoD for some mountain biking. I'll be taking my bike (2011 Cube Attention) with me, but I noticed that you can hire a Trek Remedy 7 from Pedalabikeaway. Which would be more suitable for the Freeminer trail (which I'll probably spend most of my time on)? I realise that my bike would cope with it fine, but would it be more enjoyable on a the full suspension? I was also thinking of trying a few of the downhill trails, which obviously the Trek would be more suitable for, but I've never actually tried proper downhill before. How hard are the FoD downhill trails, and is it likely that I'd muck up some experienced downhiller's ride when I'm being careful and getting used to it and they're going twice as fast?
Thanks!
By the way i realise that there is another thread about the Forest of Dean, sorry for posting another one but it didn't quite answer my question.

FOD downhill trails aren't too bad from a DH point of view. The corckscrew is pretty flowing with nothing particularly big. I did most of the DH trails a few weeks ago and I am no DH monster!0
