Ok, we all know the changes that happen once you start cycling. Waist lines shrink, thighs grow, sleep better etc......

What changes have happened that you didn't expect?

I had never been a big sports fan, now I can happily sit and watch anything with a bike in it. This has then evolved into running/swimming etc from watching triathlons.

I had never supported a team (see above). This year I got the new HTC top as soon as it was available.

Appearance, I never really cared how I looked to other people. How things have changed, now when I purchase bits I think how it will look. I bought white pedals, shoes to go with my red/white bike with is set off nicely with a set of red and white American Classics which are also shod with a pair of red walled tyres.

My better half also enlightened me to the fact i'm a pain to live with if I don't get to go out on the bikes at some point over the weekend.

    I think you'll find you've become a bike tart :D

Gonna need some new sunglasses then 8)

Back on topic, I've become really competitive. My previous opinion was that all sport was "willy waving with props". Now it doesn't matter if it's chasing the club whippets, blasting through the back markers in a sportive or scalping a bloke on a shopping bike on his way to work I want to go faster, higher, harder more*

I can only attribute this to road cycling

Add in a touch of green to keep the Italian references and you've got me!
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

I get seriously ratty and can't concentrate if I stop exercising for more than a week, so much so that people notice and ask if I'm ok.

My 3 current bikes are 2 Carrera's and a Townsend - no bike tart here.

Currently blinging the black framed commuter with contrasting yellow/gold accesories - damn its looking mean.

of course that means better! More time in the day / late afternoon for playing with your bike or watching Dog Porn.

I have also found my enthusiasm is rubbing off on the people around me. Since buying my first road bike (now up to 4 bikes) my father has bought two (building another atm) and my bro has started road riding.

My eldest lad loves his bike, 3 1/2 years old and already doing up to 6 mile rides! and the youngest at only 14 months is already trying to get on his brothers bike :D . Just needs to grow another inch in the leg and he will be tall enough for the balance bike.

I have also found I dream about being out on the bike.... hope that's a good thing!

Me too! I really wasn't that fussed about sports at school, I was the king of 4th place when I used to race BMXs as a kid and that was just fine, I discovered it was more fun having a great game of squash and losing against my competitive mates due to their sulks afterwards if I beat them, but if ever I am passed on the commute!!! I may not always manage to overtake again, but I will always put up a fight, even when I had originally planned to take it easy. Good job I cycle in the opposite direction to most commuters as I suspect I would be a right pain in the arse otherwise.

I've started to drop how many miles I've ridden during the week into any conversation. As I was saying to my colleagues in the pub this lunchtime, stocking up on calories in preparation for the commute home that will take me up to 130 miles for the week,...

    Also:
I read cycling magazines all the time.
I look forward to those triathlon programmes on C4 at 7.30am on a Saturday
When watching the weather forecast, I only take any notice of the wind speeds

Possibly also becoming a bike tart - I have a nice new white bike and know that the new helmet I need* is going to be a white one.

Oh, and the juice drink I take in my water bottle tends to be red to match the red flashes on the bike.
