New chain cassette and still slipping, any ideas?

As title says I'm having a tad problem with my drivetrain, basically I've got a Ragley mmmbop running xtr front mech, xt rear, a brand new (fitted tonight) SRAM pg990 and a brand new KMC x9 chain.
If I ride slowly putting the brakes on with it in middle on the front and rear, and put pressure on pedals it still seems to be skipping on the front, know I've shortened the chain correctly and the middle ring on the front seems in good condition,
What's my next option do I just change the ring for a new one? Any help would be great.

It sounds to me like your front chain ring is worn if it's slipping on a new chain and cassette.0

well there are only 3 places that any slippage can happen.
over the front or rear cogs. (2) or the body."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I had this when I replaced my chain, despite only just being on 0.75% wear. So I got a new cassette and that didn't fix it, when I got a new middle ring the skipping stopped.
If you're like me then you're in the middle ring most of the time so it's more worn than the other rings or most of the cassette. Replace it with a steel (Deore) ring ring and that'll last much longer.0
